Where are the Monthly Features? As you probably have noticed, there are several months missing from our Monthly Feature. This will take some explanation, so bear with me. Internal-Auditor.com is basically a one-person show. Ruth Ellen is the boss, but I am the writer, editor, and the day-to-day operations guy. Neither Ruth Ellen, nor I get paid for this. Revenues generated barely pay for the site hosting. I maintain a full-time job, at a non-profit organization, and keep all of the Ruth Ellen Carey Communications sites updated whenever I can. With that said: This past year has been devastating for the family. In August of 2002, Ruth's dad had a major heart attack, and required by-pass (at the age of 81). In February, Ruth Ellen was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer. She began chemotherapy in March. In May, my dad had a hemorrhage of his descending aorta. He passed away in June. Ruth had surgery in September, and required additional surgery in October. As you can imagine, this has created chaos. I have to spend much more time with Ruth Ellen. It has also affected my full-time job, and that has affected my time here. I have found it hard to concentrate on the subject matter for several months. For this reason, I decided to stop the subscription and provide all of the newsletters at no charge. I did not think it was fair to charge, when I knew I was falling behind. The good news is that things seem to be settling down. I anticipate that I will have the August issue up this week. I hope to have September's and October's issues up by the end of the first week in November. I think I can have June's and November's up before Thanksgiving, and I believe I can have December's up on schedule. Please bear with me. I have not abandoned the site. I plan on making it better as time goes on. I also would appreciate you telling me what topics you would like to see in future issues. Next year we are going to discuss COPs MOPs, and SOPs. We will also look at process mapping. What else do you want to hear. |
